TLC at the Beach: WorkSC.org

I attended a great session at the TLC on the Beach conference in Myrtle Beach a couple of weeks ago, SC State Library and WorkSC.org. It was conducted by Jason Broughton, Workforce Development Trainer, State Library of South Carolina.

The South Carolina State Library just launched a new website, WorkSC.org, to assist libraries, state government agencies and citizens locate useful resources on the many facets of workforce development. The site was  for libraries and first-time job seekers. Now it offers many resources for beginning and seasoned job seekers.

The LearningExpress Library is a featured resource. It is an interactive tool that provides practice tests and tutorials designed for both students and adult learners to succeed on academic and licensing exams. Feedback includes immediate scoring, complete answer explanations, and individualized analysis of the user’s results.

The site includes a wealth of information that is very well-organized and easy to navigate. Although some information is specific to South Carolina, there is much that is useful regardless of where you’re from.

For example, there is information about email and step-by-step instructions on how to set up either a gmail, yahoo, or hotmail account. The interview and job search tips are invaluable resources for any job seeker. If you live in South Carolina the links to various kinds of jobs–state, federal, private sector–are constantly updated.

Does your state have a resource like this?
